She and her group not only developed and implemented the app, she herself was also very active in promoting the use of the app, both in professionals and in patients. Anne describes how the results of her study can make an impact. This can be on different levels: Science, health, economy, policy, technology, and above all, cultural and societal. The cultural and societal impact of her research could be: (1) Improvement of care-as-usual itself, by changing attitudes of patients and general practitioners towards the problem of urinary incontinence. Also, (2) it might reduce taboo and embarrassment associated with UI. Anne also started the URinControl-challenge. I (chair of SHARE-award comittee) remember being invited to her challenge. When we had contact on stuff like the cover of her thesis, what to arrange for the defense etc. I received an invitation to participate in the challenge. She asked me to send information on the app to at least three women in my social circles. Since one out of three women suffer from urinary incontinence, this would mean that at least one could benefit. So now my sister in law is a “user”. Anne, congratulations with the prize!”
